We designed a completely new look for Schroeder, one that communicated on three levels. The first level is a clean, white opaque package that communicated a European sophistication. The next level is the use of the words One, Two, Whole, and Skim each scaled reflect the fat level of the milk, The last is the use of rotating, esoteric phrases that spoke to consumers in an anti-marketing language. Phrases like for dreamers and optimists and for those who fall somewhere in between. The early results speak for themselves. Schroeder saw a sustained 15% increase in distribution due to their new packaging and 22% increase in sales of milk during a recessionary economy.

The brief is to design an alcoholic bottled label as well as choose the right bottle, so it suits the concept chosen.

About the name : named after the Finnish language, which literally means ‘Cheers’ and symbolizes happiness and joy. During family or friend gatherings, we usually serve beer and toast before we drink it, raise our bottle/can/glass and say ‘Cheers’. This is how people show their joy, fellowship and warmth to each other.

About the splashes : It might be water (here, water refers to beer) that splashed out during the toast. The splashes symbolize the energy, spirit and the power of the people.

About the label : to design something different for bottled beer labeling and packaging, not only different, but fresh. I simplified them, by only using one label in the front, with clean typographic arrangements. All of the information is clearly and nicely arranged in one label with the shape of water (beer) splashes, different shapes for each type of beer.

Description originale

The Slow Food movement promotes sustainable agriculture and encourages consumers to positively influence what is produced in their name around the world. Two ‘foodies’, operating under the company name Klein Caporn, have developed ‘Slow Food Fast’ a range of slow food quick sauces, initially for sale in Waitrose, the supermarket arm of the John Lewis Partnership. Domenic Lippa’s redesign of the identity and labeling for the three-product range improves on-shelf presence and legibility. The tortoise and hare identity has been refined so that it allows a more economic use of the limited pack space and a clearer hierarchy for the mark, the name and descriptor. A stylish black background, understated lower case lettering, and new fork and spoon icons that frame the information ‘meal’, further improve legibility and stand-out.

Description originale

Brief is to design the packaging for a new line of organic loose teas (not a live project, tea company is Ringtons tea). Things to consider were: to have packaging eco friendly, to communicate the feel of it being exclusive, limited loose tea; try to appeal to young professionals. Solution is incorporating die-cut technique, which brings both: exclusiveness and it is saving on ink, while paper used for the outer layer is made of recycling materials.

Description originale

The recent surge of enhanced water products has attracted much of the health conscious population of today. My re-designed packaging system repositions Pure American’s vitamin water under the new alias, V+M, a vitamin-enhanced mineral water that helps emphasize the health benefit of each of the flavors, conducive to overall well-being. A specific vitamin is highlighted on each bottle, as represented through the suitable animal icon.

Description originale

As part of a larger branding project, I handmade a burlap coffee bag, carryout box and sugar packets for a very posh café that I named KOPI. The imaginary café imports coffee beans from Indonesia known as Kopi Luwak. The word Kopi is Indonesian for coffee and Luwak is the local name of the Asian Palm Civet, the animal responsible for this very naturally produced coffee. A pound of Kopi Luwak can cost as much as $600, making it the most expensive coffee in the world. The branding elements borrow from Indonesian architecture, while the overarching aesthetic was “otherworld.” KOPI operates as a “pop-up” café, moving from city to city and distributing from unadvertised locations. In keeping with the secrecy of the brand, the logo doesn’t appear anywhere on the packaging. However other brand elements such as color, typeface and the holding shape of the logo are utilized. When these elements are introduced into public they would indicate to the informed consumer that KOPI is nearby, if only temporarily.
